[F3A-Discussion] Results of rules proposals for F3A, F3P, F3M and F3S

Hey everyone,

 

The majority of the rules proposals that the US submitted were accepted by CIAM and will be effective 1/1/2018 – one proposal will be effective on 6/1/2017.  See below for the details.

 
Proposal to increase battery to 12s – withdrawn (submitted by the USA)
Proposal to modify what sound meters can be used for sound tests – passed  (submitted by UK)
Proposal to modify wording for auto-pilot prohibited – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify the definition of a team – withdrawn (submitted by the USA)
Proposal to allow ½ points (no rounding up or down) – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee) – this aligns now with AMA precision aerobatic rules
Proposal to modify/clarify rounds to count in the event of adverse weather – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify wording for junior ranking – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to approve scoring systems – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to amend the way normalized scores are calculated – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify adverse weather conditions statement – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to lower the number of judges from 20 to 16 – withdrawn (submitted by the USA)
Proposal to remove FM frequency from the rules – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal for new 2019-2020 A schedules – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal for new 2020-2021 P schedules – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal for new 2020-2021 F schedules – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify the wording of heading to track – passed (submitted by the USA) – this aligns now with AMA precision aerobatic rules
Proposal to modify the weighting of the criteria – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to allow ½ points (no rounding up or down) – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee) – this aligns now with AMA precision aerobatic rules
Proposal to round up scores from ½ points – withdrawn (submitted by France)
Proposal to modify how to judge radii – passed (submitted by the USA) – this aligns now with the AMA precision aerobatic rules
Proposal for a rule clarification about rolls – passed (submitted by the USA) – effective 6/1/2017
Proposal for stall turn clarification – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify the judging examples – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify scoring rounds for World Cup events – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to modify points allocations for World Cup events – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal to move F3P-AFM (aeromusical) to a separate class – passed (submitted by Poland)
Proposal to remove FM frequency for F3P – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
Proposal for 2018-2019 F3P schedules – passed (submitted by the Bureau)
Proposal for F3M to adopt IMAC schedules – passed (submitted by the Bureau)
Proposal for F3S to continue to use existing schedules for 2018-2019 – passed (submitted by the F3 Aero Sub-Committee)
 

 

If you’d like more details on these please let me know.  One other proposal that the US submitted which was to allow the Junior world champion to defend their title (if still a junior) also passed.
