[F3A-Discussion] Results of rules proposals for F3A, F3P, F3M and F3S

No change to F3C… we withdrew the proposal when we realized it was NOT going to pass.  This gives us an opportunity to do more research (on European countries) to see what is legal etc.  I see a way forward but I also see another option which I will be working on going forward.

Hmm. So is FAI going to change the rules for F3C (helicopters) which is currently 51volts/12s, and has been for several years? Sounds like someone doesn't know what they are talking about.

 

I'm personally ambivalent about 12s, but it sounds like the decision was not based on facts and consistency with other FAI classes. We are considering the same rule for AMA, so I was hoping for some fact based decisions from FAI. Apparently we didn't get it.

They failed to pass the subcommittee and would not have passed a vote by the delegates.  They were then withdrawn.

 

With regard to 12s – the EU supposedly has rules prohibiting batteries at 50+v for safety reasons.  Also, the ability to transport 12s batteries on commercial airlines is pretty close to being impossible now.

Why were the various US proposals withdrawn, and, in particular, the 12s proposal? What was the decision process to withdraw them?
