One way to think, but Linus Torvalds the creator of Linux didn't  think that 
way, Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google didn't start that way  (search 
service), and they all aren't sweating money from giving away  their stuff 
originally.  Sometimes the money to be made is when a  larger market is created.
 
"Dumb down" a design that is going out of style by putting a slab  stab and 
verticle would be a quick and dirty method for that free  design.
