Glen,

Are you going to claim that the top logterm competitiors in Masters 
cannot make a decent 900+ showing against the normal FAI entrants at a 
local contest with very little practice? However I would agree that it 
is probably a stretch to expect making the NATS FAI finals right away. 
On the other hand, there are many Masters flyers that I would expect to 
see in the top half of FAI their first year at the NATS.
The NATS is a special case where you always get measured against the 
best, no matter what the class. I've also seen flights in lower classes 
at the NATS that would be very diificult to beat even by droppping back 
two classes. The up and coming talent will always kick butt.
Of course there is a benefit in having quality competition in every 
class. I'm only requesting that the same rules that apply to the lower 
classes on advancement should also apply to Masters. if you disregard 
Sportsman as strictly an entry class, then we have two advancement 
classes and two destination classes.  That is a little too much balance.
