<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The Futaba 9Z is capable of "Ailevators"...you
use the gear channel as the slave for the elevator....Look it up in the book
its pretty easy....The 9C should have the same thing...haven't played with it
too much only when trying to get guys going with the Crow features.....on the
9C....JR is much easier....It uses a simple on off function to activate
it.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Don't make up a Program mix to do it...you will
get a lag time problem. Elevons will make the controls work when aileron is
applied you don't want that you want Ailevators and turn off the aileron
functions on the elevators....its all setup in the Futaba already for
you...check out the book and think Ailevators</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The Futaba makes the elevators aileron #3 and
aileron #4.....Then you set the aileron travel of these surfaces to zero and
the elevator travel to 100%.....do all of your adjusting in ATV for the end
points.....And make sure the linkages are all as square as possible......This
means make the servo arm and the pushrod at 90 deg regardless of the angle to
the servo case....This is done by using the subtrim to get the arm in the
right spot then you adjust the mechanical to put the surface in the right
spot. Then do the same thing for the horns make sure both sides are at the
same angle......and make sure both sides the horns on the surfaces are at the
same distance from the hinge line....</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Adjust ATV (for futaba) and Travel Volume (for
JR).....to set the end points.....example right elevator servo 100%up 97%
dn....left elevator servo 77% dn and 80% up......in this case the left servo
is moving too much and you don't want a big differential in the radio because
they will not track the same.....The left elevator control horn on the surface
is too close to the hinge line...giving too much throw...so lengthen this
mechanically....until the numbers are very close......</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Use a couple of 12-15" stick that are straight
cloths pin them to the elevators and make a big "V" behind the rudder.....you
can dial the elevators in watching the sticks track with each other......I use
1/4" basswood sticks and I can get them to track pretty close...not 100%
perfect but within about a 1/8" everywhere...Some servos move a little faster
at some points and a little slower at others.....Its a balancing act...Adjust
travel in the radio then play with the linkage then reset the travel in the
radio</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>and on and on.....</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>By the way digital servos are easier to setup
that older std type servos....and use two servo that are brand new or at least
the same amount of time in the same application.....Reason here the pots will
wear differently and this will change the servos end points and speed....this
will cause grief in getting them to track....</FONT></DIV>
