<P>I purchased a Pyramid 10 Amp Power Supply (PS15KX) for $39.95 from
MillionBuy.com. The version I got has banana plugs and a cigarette lighter
attachment. For $5 less you can get a 10 Amp version without the cigarette
lighter attachment.</P>
<P>This is a really good price, and Pyramid is a top notch brand.</P>
<P>The following web link has power supplies ranging from 2.5 Amps to 40
Amps. I would recommend this product. I personally would not use a PC power
supply.</P>

<P>On the charger discussion, I use a Dymond Super Turbo and have been happy
with it, it is also very competitively priced. If I were to buy one now
I would go with the or Schulze 6330 which can be purchased from
RC-Direct.com. This model has a serial output for a PC but they have a
cheaper version without this feature. Pretty sure it works with Lithium Ion
too. It's an awesome charger and is used buy many of the high end electric
guys, especially in Europe. It's may be overkill for our application, but as
stated earlier, we've got a lot riding on our batteries.</P>

<P>I don't use the charger but I have considered it if/when I need to
replace my Simprop charger (similar to SuperNova).
<P>
<P>As for power supplies, I would recommend at least a good 12V 10A
bench supply, they are about $50 from Parts Express (<A
href="http://www.partsexpress.com">www.partsexpress.com</A>). I know a
lot of people use surplus computer power supplies. If you do, make sure
the 12V output is up to the needs of your charger. If you plan on
charging high capacity packs with cell counts of 8 or more, the chargers
internal circuitry will draw more current from the power supply
than the charge rate setting. Example: An 10 cell 3000mAH NiMH pack
peaks at 18 volts or so. Lets say you are kind to your
batteries and charge at a 3000mAH rate. Using V x A to
calculate watts, 3000mAH X 18 volts = 54 Watts of power going to
the battery. The charger will have to draw that much power from the
supply (+ a little more to run itself) so 54W/12v=4.5 amps drawn from
the supply. A 10 amp rating should be enough to handle two chargers
simultaneously for most charging needs.
