a comparison of wing tube weights carbon fiber vs. aluminum? Also, what's
the probability of a good/loose fit with existing cardboard socket.

only. The socket by itself weighs .3 ounces or 9 grams.
Considering how far back you are saving the weight, it will make a differance
if you need to add nose weight to balance you plane, due to fact you will need
a lot less nose weight than you would have with the heavier stab
