I was caught in a relatively rare large hailstorm in Michigan in 1991. My white SHO Taurus looked like a giant golf ball, hundreds of dents. You have my sympathy.

I too was pelted by hail this weekend. Only one car could fit in the garage, my 2000 Yukon was pounded. Like Lance I tried covering my vehicle. I put on a bike helmet and ran out to try to cover it. There were numerous whacks on the helmet and then a direct hit on my knuckle (boy that hurt). I used a tarp folded over four times and put it on the hood, but it still sustained damage. All attempts to cover the top failed as the wind blew off everything I put up there. It didn't take long to realize I had to just sit by and be an observer.

Hi Terry,
The thing I learned about hail this weekend is that it is more than just golf ball sized ice balls falling on your house and cars. They are rocket propelled ice balls. The same hundred mile per hour winds that circulate and create the hail also propel them down to the ground. I tried to cover my cars with blankets, but was pelted into submission.

Of course its al melted today. Call me Terry and email me off list. I'm in Plano and would love to host you as a visitor at an area flying field. I'm a member at them all.

--Lance
