Ron Ellis runs a good one here in Florida and it costs his club virtually nil. It also generates virtually nil. Here's what Ron does:<BR>

The trophies are computer generated and the frames are simple Wally World specials. Entry fees are Nada, Zilch, Zero .<BR>

He flies the Sportsman, Intermed on Saturday and the Adv and Mast on Sunday 3 rounds each. Each day of flying is doine byat latest 2 PM. He gets about a dozen to 15 fliers, mostly local folk, who just want to try the Pattern game. Very few rules, costs and even effort, to do

Yet the results are quite worthwhile. D3 has gotten about a half dozen regular competitors out of this excercize. between last year and this year<BR>

I've often thought about trying to negotiate and persuade my club to allow a <BR>
Pattern Primer. Unfortunately my club's major objective is to make money, <BR>
and the bottom line is how much money can they expect in their treasury at <BR>
the end of the Contest/Event. <BR>

My question to you, and to anyone else who has run a contest or primer, is <BR>
there a rule of thumb for expenses versus income for one of these events?? <BR>
Any general guidelines for how many contestants are needed for a break even <BR>
scenario?? I realize a lot of this has to do with actual expenses and costs <BR>
of trophies and such, but if anybody would care to chime in with their <BR>
experiences in this matter it would be greatly appreciated.<BR>
