the Hydeout-1.70 - Mintor at lunch today and emptied another gallon through the
exhaust pipe.The F plugs are still there and clean. Each flight allowed me to

16 x 12 is spinning just nicely and will be swapped for the 17 x 12 tomorrow.
the fuel will be changed to 15/16 first and then the prop if all goes well.I
felt confident enough to fly the FAI P-03 several times in about a 15 mph
headwind. ( I said confident not competent - BBG)The engine pulled the plane
around very well indeed. Not quite 17 x 13 OS 1.60 grunt yet but better than
the L that was in there before. The hourglass downwind push and 45 climb was
easy. The fig 9 with three 1/2's going up maintained speed and roll rates,
which told me it was not slowing down much. the spin entry was easy so the idle
was normal. Transitions were smooth on the last two flights. They gurgled
before,after long down lines, but never even sounded like it would
quit.Definitely getting to a competitive performance.One interesting thing is
that the std ES clone of the OS pipe has the first baffle 2" further back
than the Bolly pipe. This means that I am running 2" longer than a Bolly.
I intent to try the bolly when the 1.70 is broken in and can handle a shorter
pipe. Should be interesting to see what it performs like. In the meanwhile not
quoting rpm's etc. just how it goes up, transitions and idles.One funny note is
that although it advises running FAI fuel at the end of the day it will hardly
run on it... any thoughts on the straight fuel...Eric.</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>
