<DIV>The crank and crank ring. (I changed the crankshaft front,
rear, and cam bearings, but that was due to normal wear and an abnormal crash)
My carb appears to be the large bore model, but I don't have anything to
compare it to. Both my FZ carbs look the same. The carb and crankcase part
numbers on the L and FZ are different, but that is because of the
additional mount points for the YS soft mount on the carb and some chrome-like
tape around the front bearing housing for the nose ring on the
crankcase.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I also drilled 5 holes with a #59 number bit through the crown of
the piston into the ring groove, AKA "gas port mod". I did this to my other FZ
with no other changes and gained 350 RPM. I used the head bolt holes to mark
the top of the piston before removing it, then drilled the holes perpendicular
to the chamfer on the crown. The resulting holes end up going at an angle into
the backside of the ring groove.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I probably won't be able to try out the motor for a few days, stay
tuned.<BR><BR><B><I>jim ivey <jivey61@msn.com></I></B> wrote:</DIV>

<DIV>The newborn FZ to L conversion is ready to bench run. The
crank ring and camshaft bearing installation was fairly easy with the
tips from the list. Thanks to everyone who responded.</DIV><BR><BR>Bob
