to agree with Chris on this one. With the finals, where there are often
10-12 judges, this is probably appropriate and statistically relevant. But
with 5 or even 4 judges which has often been the case, throwing out highs and
lows is more likely to eliminate the discerning judges and leave those that
simply hand out a slurry of 7's and 8's. In some cases, where
a particular judge is "tougher" than his colleagues...I've seen that entire
judge be thrown out since his were always the low....meaning he justed wasted

Flying Sportsman at the Nats in '91 I did a double stall turn and received
a 9, 9, 2 from the three judges. It was frustrating, but highlighted the fact
that this is a subjective sport. Presentation and perception is
