Oh, the sting of your wit - Touche!
The Boxer is coming along just fine. In the meantime I've gotten hold of a Webra 145 and put it in the Focus, which will have to suffice until I can get the Boxer flying.
Bill-there is not a performance cost by not using the bar...only a cost when you do use one, about 200-300 rpm. That bar was there in the old days to keep the element from getting splashed with fuel by the crappy no mid range engines/carbs of yester year. Things in this here world done changed...Fox has not. Wayne is just being "low cost".....break in plugs get trashed anyway, why not use a cheapo. Only an idiot would go to a contest with the "break in" plugs still in his engine.
Some things like idle bars and Boxers once had there place............hows that Boxer coming along anyway?
I don't know what current thinking is regarding idle bars, but way back when
we abandoned using them because of the possibility that if one of them came
off the glow plug it would do damage to the engine. I've seen what has
happened to an engine when some bearing balls got loose inside during a run.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like cheap insurance to avoid them, even if
there is a cost in performance.
