none about SPA. The size and noise and weight of IMAC competition planes
just never made that a reality. I personally think we (SPA and NSRCA) are
more related and have much closer genetics. One reason why I
covered SPA in my MA column. (Haven't heard from them lately - guess I

<DIV>The popular engine in SPA is the OS 91. It is quiet enough. We just had
the Hotlanta SPA contest last weekend and there probably was 2-3, 2 stroke
engines with regular mufflers. There are no tuned pipes and no AC engines
and no retracts allowed. Noise isn't a problem with SPA.</DIV>

similar non-turnaround thought pattern came up about over 55's having a
non-turnaround class.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

easier. Could retain more pattern pilots as they age!? (Even CD's

not forget our biggest challenge is numbers of participants. As a % of RC
pilots we are a decimal point! That scares me. Not enough youth and then
we have the "silverbacks" giving up because the routines stretch their
