<DIV>This string has been a little disconcerting. I have recently bought three NMP packs, Duralite 6v regulators and a NMP charger. Last year I replaced my NiCads with NiMetal five cell 1100 packs (Sirius charger) and was not overly impressed. So far the NMP packs are performing as advertised. All three come off the charger at 7.8v, with a 1 amp load and all three discharge at about .15v per 10 min flight. I have not taken them down to the 6v limit; they seem to charge up quite happily in about 2 hours on the NMP charger and donīt generate any heat. But I will make a point not leave them on charge over night, or unattended. </DIV>
<DIV>For the Tx pack, I will stick with NiCads, when the next one is due.</DIV>

They are lighter per mah than the NiCads, memory isn't an issue so they don't have to be completely discharged like NiCads (though I do a full cycle periodically just to check capacity), and they don't loose their charge as quickly as NiCads while sitting unused. </FONT></DIV>

But for our use NiMH clearly is a better choice IMO. You'll also hear that NiCad batteries can be rapid charged more quickly than NiMH. This is probably true to some degree, however, this doesn't mean you can't rapid charge NiMH's, they just require different peak detection (supported by practically all modern chargers) and the charge should probably be more conservative. Even with this you can still charge them quite rapidly.</FONT></DIV>
