Jon, I am using the same set-up as Karl with excellent results with this sport engine. The only thing different on mine is the prop (bigger) and slightly longer on the pipe. The idle is easy to get lean: symptoms are extended time to settle down to low rpms for landing. I had to back mine off about 1/2 turn from where it gave me that symptom, and it works really well now.

The only negative on this topper tank set-up is the first start of the day on the inverted engine--choking it tends to be tough because of minimal prop clearance. I hate starters so getting fuel to the carb can be tricky, but once it's there, a quick flip of the spinner against compression and she's kicked off
Subject: OS 1.60 Issues

I have a Titan, OS 1.60, Mueller header, Greve pipe, Ironbay regulator before the needle valve, OS #8 plug, running a 17x13 with 15%. Tank is monted over the CG. Hyde mount. As near as I can measure around the header, I am at the length that Piedmont recommends for these pipes on their site. Good power at full throttle, but midrange stinks, wanting to load up at 3/4 throttle, and not transition to full throttle. Also, the mixture changes in the air, upright to inverted, going rich inverted. I have the regulator mounted horizontally about 1.5 inches from the needle, do I need to mount it fore-aft like a Cline? Do you think I need to extend the length of the pipe? Any carb adjustment tricks? I'm new to pipes, so any info will help.

BTW, the original pressure check valve went bad before I even got to fly it. I got a check valve (Foremost) from my local hobby shop that seems to work, developing pressure and holding it well. Have others had problems with the Ironbay valves?

Thanks.
