Thanks, Brian.

I just took the pump apart and found it to be squeeky
clean. I triple filter
my fuel.

I'll try all of your suggestions,
probably today if I get the engine reinstalled in time.

What I don't
understand is why the engine died immediately at high throttle
with the nose
up. It ran perfectly with the plane level. Could this be a
pump problem? I
couldn't find anything unusual inside it. The diaphragms
look fine and it is
clean.

I'll turn the adjustment screw out a half turn and fiddle with the
needles
again.

Thanks again, Dave

----- Original Message -----

Keith has given you a lot of good tips. Your setup is
> fine and will
work. I have ran these for several
> years. When the engine coughs and
spits on throttle up
> it is rich on the bottom end and in some cases can
be
> corrected by leaning the low speed needle. If you cant
> get it
lean enough on the low speed needle reduce the
> pump pressure by screwing
out the pump regulator by up
> to 1/2 turn at a time.
> If the
engine dies after a rollout from a maneuver
> coming off of idle and it is
just dead, like you
> turned off the switch, thats dieing lean. Richen
the
> low end needle.
>
> If you are unsure try one direction
paying attention
> to what you changed until the problem goes away
or
> gets worse. If it gets worse try the needle the other
>
way.
>
> If the problem is inconsistant, or the main needle
>
isnt close to 1-1/2 to 1-1/4 turn expect debris in the
> pump. Use a
hanger 9 filter that is anodized aluminum
> round cylinder, the best
filter I have seen.
>
> Hope you received the information you need,
the engine
> will run and be reliable. If its new and you cant
seem
> to get it to work send it back, dont waste a lot of
> time on
it. Boca has a stainless steel sealed bearing
> for the engine that is due
in october, I suggest you
> install one of these as soon as its
available.
>
> Brian
> --- David Wartel <<A
