As you may know, I lived in Las Vegas for some 28 years. Out there, we
used to say, "the Fix is In!"<G> And, some of the time, we were
wrong there, too.<br>

You will note that he refers to Bob Noll as THE U.S. judge for the
next F3A World Championships. This despite the fact that the list of
the top five U.S. judges is just now being sent to the 2005 F3A World
Championships organizing committee and Bob Noll is the fourth-ranked
judge. <br>

This all started when Bob announced to me at the 2003 F3A Team
Selection Finals that he was to be the U.S. judge in 2005. He paid
his own way to Poland and announced there that he was to be the U.S.
judge in 2005. He managed to get into all the judging functions and
did practice judging with the actual judges. This is a very curious
situation. How Noll can be so sure that he will be the 2005 U.S.
judge is beyond me, unless he has a high-level AMA official as a
sponsor (read Dave Brown).

I think it would be interesting for you to get a small report from the
2004 EU Champs in F3A, just recently held, all seen through a judge's
eye

Winner this time was Roland Matt - Wolfgangs son
<br>
2nd was Christophe Paysant-Le Roux
<br>
3rd was Wolfgang Matt <br>
It was during the whole competition very close between Roland and
Christophe. It was a tie in the finals, so then the semi finals
results needed to be used.
<br>

The Matts were flying their latest: the Lazulite and this time the
electric version. Weight of their models were 4950 grams incl battery.

It looks like that this event was really the breakthrough for the
electric power-plants. Many pilots in spite of the very high pricetag
flew electric models.
<br>
(Electric engine incl regulating electronics, gearbox etc.: About
1.000 US$, Battery pack about 800 $.

I heard that in the next year's World Champs, to be held in St-Yan in
France. Bob Noll has been chosen as the U.S judge. I met him in
Poland last year, he is a good guy and he is very welcome into the
club. St-Yan is a small town not easily found on the maps, but it is
situated about half way between Paris and Lyon, right in the center of
the best wine districts in France.

Word goes around that the 2007 World champs will go to Canada, we will
see.
