<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">By now you've all received, or are about to receive, your ballots in the mail… so what I'd like to do is ask that you consider me, and vote for me, to be your president in 2005-2006. This organization has always had, and continues to need, strong leadership especially in the presidents position. We need someone that can<U><B> communicate</B></U><B></B> well, both verbally and in writing, to the membership and to our partners, whether it be the AMA, advertisers, other SIGS, overseas counterparts, or whomever. We have some important years ahead of us - a new rules cycle must start in January of 2005 - we need to present any rules changes to the AMA by September 30th 2005. We also have to work on increasing membership - I'm open to all ideas on how to do this. We also need to look to the future to see how we can enable<U></U><U><B> all</B></U><B></B> NSRCA members to be able to fly in our national championships - at this time the majority of attendees at our NATS are from the Midwest, South and East regions of the country - what about the West, Southwest, Northwest and far West members? How can we accommodate them? There is a lot more to do as well - refine the K-Factor and its distribution - update the web site, etc.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Well, in order to do this we need a strong leader - someone that has a great working relationship with the AMA. I have been fortunate to have very successful dealings with the AMA over the years in my capacity as Contest Board member, NATS attendance, F3A World Championships officiating, my relationship to other SIGS such as IMAC and IMAA, and my scoring software. I know that this relationship will help the NSRCA for the future and that is why I want your vote.</FONT></P>

<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">I’ve been the Treasurer of the NSRCA for the past 6 years and I’ve decided to “commit” myself to another 2 year term by running for President of the NSRCA. Oh… I almost forgot… I’ve also been the editor of the K-Factor for the past 18 months. Don’t blame me for the lateness of the K-Factor – I just EDIT the articles. :)</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">So what about me? I’m from northern California – about 30 miles outside of San Francisco and I’m lucky enough to be able to fly almost 12 months of the year. I’m originally from South Africa but have lived here for the past 23+ years and I’ve been flying R/C pretty much the entire time. I’ve been competing in Pattern for the past 9 years of which the last 5 have been in F3A. I’ve competed at the NATS but have not flown there since 2001 due to an overwhelming work load (travel) and other family related issues… but here it's 2004 and I’m back competing again – I’ve changed jobs that doesn’t require me to travel 50% of the time. I’m the Internal Audit Manager for AAA over here in Northern California – we have over 6000 employees in 3 states with over 80 offices and we generate about $4bn in revenue every year – a job I love, by the way.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">As far as my R/C “career” is concerned… I’m the District X representative on the AMA R/C Aerobatics Contest Board and fly Pattern and IMAC over here. I’m also the Northern California Contest/Fly-in coordinator and have been doing that for the past 5 years. I’ve been the official scorekeeper at the TOC since 1998, the 1999 F3A WC in Pensacola, the NATS, and had a hand in designing the all AMA pattern sequences that we are currently flying. I’ve been an officer/board member in my flying club since “who knows when”… and I’ve CD’ed a pattern contest at my field since 1995.</FONT></P>
