not reprint articles from the past? I remember reading superb articles on

would now, also. There were dozens of great articles on setup, wing

talented members that have since moved on.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

however I would hope that pattern pilots would do it because they want to do

dependant on quality articles then payment would definitely be in
line. As to using the K-Factor to grow pattern - absolutely!
However it needs to be attractive as a magazine to attract new pilots -
articles like I mentioned below are what I feel will attract
people.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I also am very happy with the new production
quality. I remember joining IMAA just to get the High Flight
magazine. We may be on the cusp of getting the same kind of new
members. If we could put out a few articles per month, and then place
a few extra copies in some hobby shops, we might get some growth. the
big hurdle is getting a few articles per month. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> I always read my KF cover to cover and
know that some VPs put good hobby tips, building stories, and stories in
their columns. Why not separate the district management issues from
this information and turn it into an article to be placed before the
district reports? I did this in the December issue and mention of the
article made the cover. This gets the attention of anyone looking at
the cover and invites readers. We should also consider
incentives. Since we just saved $1000 a month in KF production costs,
let's reinvest some of that for incentives to submit articles. I write
column every month as VP and have submitted occasional articles because I
love pattern and this whole group. But I also submit articles to
larger magazines which pay cash if your article is accepted. The
amount paid is a sliding scale depending on the quality and alignment with
the magazines goals. It is nice to receive a check. It's like a
gift certificate to the local hobby shop. Maybe we can now afford
something similar. How about an NSRCA renewal for any article over 500
words with at least one picture/graphic. To get an idea of how easy
this is, look again at the December KF and my article on Battery
Backup. It is 494 words with one graphic and fits comfortably on one
page. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> I bet many people have at least
half a dozen ideas that are simple and would only need a page to
describe. If a free NSRCA renewal seems scary, how about credit for
NSRCA merchandise? Hey, if this gets going maybe some advertisers
would consider sponsoring an article. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>No one has mentioned the KF as a way to grow
pattern, but maybe we are not leveraging a key asset. What do you
think?</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>Wait until you see the cover of the January issue. :)</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>BTW, our goal is to improve and I think we've accomplished that with
the 1st issue under the new publisher. It can only get better from
here as we move forward and find out exactly what we can/cannot do within
the constraints of our budget. I would still like to solicit
input/articles from everyone if they have construction articles, how-to's,
flying tips, judging tips, etc. Everyone benefits from this type of
article... I used to love reading those articles in the "old" K-Factors of
the mid 90's - articles from Verne K. and Bob Richards especially.</DIV>
