Stick with the Focus II and you'll be all set. It won the Nats
in '03
> and is as good a plane as there is on the market. I have one
with an OS 160
> and it was easy to setup and inexpensive as
well.
>
>
>
> Thanks,

was bad for you. If so, I apologize.
>
> BUT - Your
tale is the exception, by far. If you browse a bit on RCU, ask
>
some questions, ask on this list, I think you'd find that 99.9% of the
time
> a "newbie" gets OVERWHELMED with offers of help. Maybe
I'm wrong, but it's
> sure been my experience.
>
>
As to your comment about Masters not forgetting where we came from -
well,
> some may. But certainly not all, and certainly MOST
Masters pilots *ARE*
> the guys that are advocating for reason, logic,
and cost-effectiveness in
> the game.
> We
know what it took to get started, and did it at a time when things
>
weren't quite as rosy as they are right now, let me tell you.
>
> Bad experiences happen, but I hope that regardless, you'll look at
the
> broader picture. There isn't a finer group of guys who are
committed to the
> game than Pattern Pilots.
>
> Bob

pattern
>
>
> Let me tell you a short story from a
newbie I flew for appox 10yrs till 1978
> when I retired. Went to my
first pattern contest in 2003 and said that's
> what I want to do seen
all those pretty birds and had to have one asked
> around and
was told someone said he sells kits. He lives in middle of
>
Texas. all right asked if he had any for sell no but can get me a kit
in a
> couple months could hardly wait e-mailed him told me how much $
495.00 wing
> Fuse. And stab and a set of instruction. Well the
fuselage was cracked in
> two place the wings cores had no holes cut
in them as I said no nothing just
> cores now I'm lost so I email him
and he says send them back at my cost
> another $45.00 and still no
idea how to build this plane this guy Tells me
> about A person in
Nederland TX that fly's pattern maybe he cane help I call
> him and
Buddy Brammer, Larry Mercer Ray Rhodes took me under there wing now
>
ever Friday I was going back and forth trying to get my fist patter plane
in
> the air had the fuselage ready to fill in all the holes left from
the molds
> I start epoxy and micro balloons looking good till I
start sanding them
> smooth and low and be hold all the stuff I just
put on fell off now I'm in
> to $750 and still no were near being done
well guess what the fuselage is
> setting on my shelf and still no
pattern plane. I flew a U CAN DO in my
> first contest and
second went Nederland TX and third to Hot springs and
> flew
over there won as I was the only sportsman flying ever one was
>
encouraging but still no patter plane tried to talk to the people that
sold
> me MY fist plane and was told in so many words I didn't do ii
right now I
> have a contest in Lake Charles La so guess what I flew
the U CAN DO in 25
> mph and didn't win but had a lot of fun Thanks to
Buddy, Ray, and Larry,Ed ,
> Ned
>
> Now I have a
Focus 11and have spent appox 2500.00 and still haven't flown a
>
patter plane I see this guys name all the time on this web site and
they
> have all the ans . But he had no TIME for a newbie except my
money and you
> all want to know why your membership is dropping as
one of the guys said
> take someone under your wing its amazing what
will come out maybe a world
> Champaign One more thing You all that
fly Masters and up some times it helps
> to remember where you all
started some time you can't see the ground for all
> the trees.Its not
fun when you're the only one flying.
>
> I will fly pattern and
will win but no help from the people from Dallas Fort
> worth area
