FWIW Prior to the first flight of the day, on my WC2 I do
this failsafe check (turn off TX) every time I do the range check . Works
every time :-) Having had a plane (different brand TX/RX) go out of control
previously, the fail safe did work and, although I lost the airframe, the plane
posed no threat to anyone or anything.

Troy,

> The PCM S used on JR radios today doesn't
allow it
> to be turned off.

I stand corrected!

> Now
there is an older version of PCM
> that JR still supports called ZPCM
the Z was a 512
> PCM and it allowed you to
> set the time delay
before it kicked in. And it could
> possible have been a
> turn
off thing....I'm not really sure on it as I
> never ran ZPCM.
>

That may be what I am remembering.

>
> Next issue JR
and Futaba both send their "failsafe"
> signal about once every
>
15-30 secs or so. I never counted. But if you turn
> everything on...and
the
> system has not sent the F/S signal yet...then when
>
interferance happens the
> PCM will not know what to do. So here is
my
> suggestion. Turn TX and RX
> on...let it stay on for about a
minute....then turn
> TX off and wait. to see
> what's
up.

The Futaba sends it once every 60 seconds, if I
remember
correctly. It also sends it when you first
turn on the transmitter. My
normal procedure is to
turn the receiver on first, then the
transmitter.

> ----- Original Message -----
> From:
