<DIV>There are three types of stainless steel: ferritic (like what they use for
mufflers and pipes, it is magnetic and weldable), austenitic (non-magnetic and
very corrosion resistant, good high temp properties, but generally not very
strong) and martensitic stainless (which is magnetic and can be very strong and
fairly corrosion resistant). I'll bet stainless bearings are the latter.

SS that is attracted by magnets but I don't think is use in this application
