have a broken stator wire the best thing is chunk it but if you can repair the
wire try it my self I'd get a new one when you need one its not going to work
and it will not put up the rpm you might need the gears are worn the grease will

to debris getting into the gears and breaking a wire on one winding.

the gears are clean use lithium White grease They sell this at Auto parts
store in 4 oz tubes remember a little goes along way.

loosen the nuts at the back end of the starter - they are the bolts that
appear at the front of the body. I made my own wrench from a
piece of .125" aluminum. A skinny set of needle nose pliers
might also work. You will have some fun putting it back
together - the brushes are spring loaded against the commutator and need
to be "pinned" open via the pinholes in plastic case/housing on the back
