<DIV>Racketball tournaments have the same problems in getting players to referree. What has worked the best IMO is exactly what you suggested. The $$ was considerably less. It seems there was always the player trying to make up some expenses and was willing to ref if no one wanted to. Enough matches goes along way towards hotel expenses etc.</DIV>

<DIV>At the Nats, someone may not want to practice, may just enjoy judging etc etc. Increasing the entry fee with the rebate when you show up to work is a great motivator. You may even see an increase in the pilot volunteer pool.</DIV>
