<DIV> Its not the ego factor for IMAC as that is also present in pattern with the newest and greatest model of the pattern year! Some pilots just HAVE to have the plane of year.</DIV>
<DIV>That might not be the WOW factor as in IMAC but it is the pattern factor ;-)</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV> There are several challenges to flying IMAC and its not only because the planes are cool (but yes they are ;)</DIV>
<DIV>IAC makes the group quite interesting and IMAC continues to keep the main connection to IAC. </DIV>
<DIV>New models new pilots new sequences continue to keep the interest in IMAC.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Pattern seems to draw a different type of pilot in general. A pattern plane has a complete different presentation. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I honestly could not choose as to what I like best. Pattern flying is unique and most enjoyable. I fly both because I am not in the higher classes and manage to attend a few events each year.I should practice more thats for sure.</DIV>
<DIV>I see a new growth in pattern also. For awhile it slowed down but in the past three years there seems to be a renewed interest in pattern. I think there has been more promotion and that should certainly be continued.</DIV>
<DIV>As cool as the IMAC planes are I still see some new pilots choosing to prepare for pattern events. I have three in my club now. first time competitiors. There is a group for everyone.</DIV>
<DIV>ITs nice to have these groups open for new pilots this will will help the hobby in general.IMAC and pattern.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I think the reasons IMAC is so popular are:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>1. The huge amount of exposure the IMAC type of planes get in virtually every magazine.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>2. The big hoopla over TOC.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>3. Freestyle provides impressive video clips for the uninitiated to ogle over (even though that's not primarily what IMAC is about, the average guy doesn't know that).</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>4. Huge availability of really cool looking planes.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>5. Ego factor. It's more in vogue and seems much cooler than pattern. Even the basic pilots seem to have the 40% planes, and it makes them feel special to show them off to their friends.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>All the other things that have been discussed, friendly people, too serious, rules, pattern being expensive, etc. are Red Herrings.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>
<DIV>My opinion.</FONT></DIV>
