Meters</DIV>

<DIV>
<DIV>I also just received my new Hangar 9 digital throw/incidence meters from
Horizon and am somewhat disappointed. I already had a digital level on
my incidence meter so I was actually more interested in the digital throw
meter function. While it works, it does not have a counter balance to
unload the surface as previously indicated/implied and it is very hard to
reset the meter to zero without moving the meter resulting in a non zero
setting. The holder for the digital meter as a throw meter is relatively
heavy; even tho it has soft rubber pads on the clamping surfaces, it is fairly
easy to change the angle of the clamps because both sides of the clamping
surfaces pivot as opposed to one surface being fixed and the other pivoting as
in the CRC throw meter. We were able to measure throws to .1 degree as
advertised but it too some 'futzing' to get there. In less than 10
minutes, we came up with several ways to make this setup better. Neat
idea, wish they had taken more time to actually think through how it really
works and how modelers would use it. I already started making a new
counter balanced surface mounting clamp for mine and am looking for a longer
bar for the incidence meter part. It is woefully short for the wings
we have if you want to measure near the root. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Like I said, neat idea, they should have spent more timing thinking or
having some modelers test it first before release. It would also be nice
if we could just buy the digital component and skip the rest. As
designed, the CRC Throw Meter and Budd Engineering throw meter are much
more user friendly.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>A while back I made reference to the (then yet
unreleased) Hangar 9 Angle Pro Digital Throw / Incidence meter as a possible
option for this task. Sorry to say that the two that I received are
disappointing - one was inoperative, the other worked well for a little
while and then failed. (The length of the "incidence bar" is too short
unless you wish to measure incidence near the wing tip also. ) Postings on
RCU suggest that my experience isn't an isolated case.</FONT></DIV>
