and remember this will really only work if EVERYONE complies. To put that into
a real world perspective, there are still people using old non-narrow band
radios (I'm not naming anyone but I've seen it) even though this is "illegal".
Who enforces any of these "laws"? Their argument is "My radio still works
fine, I didn't see the need to send it in and pay to have it changed when
all of that narrow-band stuff was happening". Now the manufacturers refuse to
service the old radios so even if someone wanted to comply, they couldn't
unless they sent it to a repair facility. Look on eBay. How many of those old
radios ("works fine, it was my father's") do you think end up back in service
with a new owner who got a good deal on it? Scary isn't it? The point is what
would make the current crop of "park flier" radios and their owners any
different?</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

airplanes are on 27 MHz. Maybe use that band for park fliers and leave the 72
MHz band alone. You can change Tx crystals in that band "legally" too so you
can make low cost transmitters that don't require a modular RF deck. I bet if
GWS brought out a low-cost 27 MHz single-conversion Rx and a transmitter to go
along with it, the phase-in would start almost
immediately.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

seriously help the problem. Take away "X" number of our channels
and assign them to E-ONLY. Xtals sold only for e-fliers rx's-change the pin
spacing for the mass produced ones, and the e-fliers Tx's made with
xtals only available for those channels. Re-call all those out for "fix" at
no expense. Advertise on the impact to them and their parents for
responsibility if you do not get it done. Put some "fear" like
teeth into doing it. Won't get them all, but can sweep them up as they
are seen and found, to get them redone. </FONT></DIV>

convert to their "big" radios with legal "sign-off" when purchased, for

missed, and would take a concerted effort to get all "toy" radio mfgs. to
comply. Seems like AMA and all their membership, and hobby shops,

serious legal teeth for mfg. of non compliant radios.e.g. put the lawers on
their trail for selling illegal stuff if someone gets hurt.</FONT></DIV>
