Having had my share of Pans, Shovels and Ironheads ( never had a BT Evo ),
I'll stay with my '03 Twinkie. Maybe when we were younger, days were longer so
we could spend the time maintaining the older iron but as I have aged it seems
there is never enough time for anything. BTW, the cast wheels are from down
under and for the most part the Delphi ( lets hope they survive ) FI is for the
most part USA.

for Evo Hogs - yes I agree. You can actually make money working on them. It
takes a lot of time and skill (in the words of Andrew Dice Clay: "Yeah, I got
dat' ") to get an old Shovel or Pan running right especially if you're
concerned about, ahem, "oil tightness". Yes, Evos are better. Along with their
(Japanese) Showa shocks, (Japanese) Keihin carbs (Okay maybe those aren't so
great) and (Japanese) Hitachi + (German) Bosche electronics. I'm sure the
V-Rod is very nice too. But there's something about an old (American) Hog;
including oil drips, generator(!) and drum brakes. I guess if I have
to explain - you wouldn't understand...

by G H W Bush. Passed by a Democratic House and Senate. Signed
into law by Clinton in 1993, went into effect in 1994. Both sides are
"party" to this one.

Incidentally, for all the "pre-AMF" Hog riders
out there, the new Evolution-engined Harleys are wonderful! So are
their Japanese-made Showa shocks.

I used to work with a guy who rode
a V-Rod with the "foreign" engine. It was designed by Porsche, and was
very smooth and powerful. The new GM diesel trucks use an engine
designed and made by Isuzu. Both are wonderful.

Ironically, Boeing is outsourcing their aerodynamic work to a
Russian firm. Who could have predicted that 15 years ago?

I was
in the market for a commuter car a few months ago and balked at the cost of
a Civic (very good car) and bought a '99 Chrysler Concorde LXi for almost
nothing. It is a nice, solid car with excellent leather interior,
decent performance, and I still get 28 - 32 mpg. It is also
significantly cheaper than a comparable-year Civic after adding in the
higher loan payments and insurance on the Honda.

I for one HOPE the
US automakers will be able to pull out of their funk, because they make some
very nice vehicles now.

I am very concerned about GM because
they hold around $350B in debt (that is a LOT of zeroes...).
Unfortunately their products now are very high-quality, because their stock
is tanking and they are on the verge of collapse.
