[F3A-Discussion] Finals flights

I’m with you on this, Mark.  It makes no sense to make it “easier” by only counting 2 out of 3.  At least with the current method, 1 F is counted and both unknowns, which doesn’t allow for a slip up during the unknowns.  If the new way is done using best 2 of 3, then one could have a slip up in one unknown and still be eligible to win (which, to me, is not the best pilot winning).

Seems that only keeping 2 of 3 really lowers the impact of the Unknowns. Seems often that the simpler unknown is biasedly won by the perceived favorite… leaving only the difficult unknown (and there’s always one that’s more difficult than the other) to truly separate people. As a spectator and TM, I’d personally prefer 1 F, and the best 2 of 3 unknowns (so that a single error didn’t eliminate you from the contest) but I realize they’re trying to shorten the finals day and judging workload a little bit.

If the proposal is for 1F and 2 Unknowns, I’d vote to keep all 3. Curious what the team guys think.

Good morning everyone,

There is a potential rules proposal to only fly 1 F and 2 unknowns during the finals of CAT 1 events. Should we count all 3 flights or the best 2 of 3?

Best,

-Derek
